At Biggera Waters State School, we offer Music for every child, every week (Prep – Year 6).
Classroom Music is delivered by a qualified music specialist teacher, with students learning to make music and respond to sound, aligned with ‘The Arts’ curriculum. Students gain knowledge and skills using voice, body percussion and instruments (see instruments below).

Choirs
Students from Year 1 – Year 6 are invited to join our school choirs.
Senior Choir (Year 3 - 6) rehearse on Thursday at 8:15am – 9:00am
Junior Choir (Year 1 - 2) rehearse on Wednesday at 11:00am – 11:30am
Instrumental Music
Students undertake a selection process in Year 2 for Strings and Year 3 for Band. Following this process, students are invited to join the Instrumental Music program.
In Instrumental Music, students receive one ensemble rehearsal and one small group lesson per week, with a report aligned with the Instrumental Music curriculum. Students selected to learn a String instrument commence lessons at the start of Year 3. Students selected to learn a Band instrument commence lessons at the start of Year 4.

- Woodwind: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone
- Brass: Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, French Horn, Euphonium/Baritone
- Strings: Bass Guitar *limited availability in Band
- Percussion: (all percussion students play a variety of tuned and untuned instruments)
Competitions
All school choirs and instrumental ensembles participate in competitive and non-competitive events during the year, including school concerts, assembly performances, Fanfare and the Gold Coast Eisteddfod.
